All Pattern Pieces include 1/2 an inch of seam allowance.
This pattern will take
wide fabric.
Bust Measurement: This measurement should be taken
around the widest part of the bust. Do not pull the measuring tape tight,
but make sure that it is a close fit. Round this measurment to the
nearest half inch.
Waist Measurement: This measurement should be
taken at your natural waist, usually located near the belly button for
women (or a couple of inches below the belly button for men). If you're
not sure exactly where your natural waist is, bend over to the side and
note where the skin folds. Take the measurement at this point. (Don't
suck your breath in, now!) Round this measurement to the nearest half
inch.
Hip Measurement:
This is the measurement around the widest part of your hips. In some cases, this might be around your thighs instead. In any event, make your measurement at the widest point below your waist.
Shoulder to Wrist Measurement:Hold your arm out to the side, and have a friend measure from the point of your shoulder and along the slightly bent arm to your wrist.
Around the Upper Arm Measurement: This measurement is around the bicep. Flex your arm and wrap the measuring tape around the widest part.. If you don't do this, your sleeve may be too tight.
Around the widest part of the hand: Wrap the measuring tape around your hand at the hand's widest point, usually near the first joint of the thumb.
Shoulder to Hem Measurement:
Take one end of the measuring tape and place it on top of your shoulder; draw the other end down and measure the distance between shoulder and where you want the hem of the smock to be. I measure this on the side front of my body, to the outside of my bosom.
Shoulder to Shoulder measurement: This is the distance between the points of your shoulders, measured across the top of your back at the level of the nape of the neck.
